Camden Place is a building of historic and architectural significance. Its story spans French and English history and for over 130 years it has been the magnificent home of Chislehurst Golf Club.

Discover Camden Place’s unique history through the people and events that shaped a story that spans more than 400 years.
From 1609, when the antiquarian William Camden first set up home on the site, to its role today as the home of Chislehurst Golf Club. Over the years Camden Place has played host to famous visitors, been the scene of a double murder and witnessed the death of the last Emperor of the French.
A programme of tours and talks provide members of the public with an opportunity to visit Camden Place.

Camden Place’s history starts in 1607, when it was built as an impressive home for the antiquarian William Camden. Subsequent residents rebuilt, extended and recast the building from country house to French chateau.
